FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to use YTBooks?

No. The extension is local-first — install it and start adding chapters and notes with no account. An account is only needed for premium cloud sync and backup.

What do I get for free vs premium?

Free includes custom chapters, highlighted sections, rich notes, folders, and local file backup (up to 10 chapters per video). Premium adds cloud sync, online backup/restore across devices, unlimited folders, and higher limits (up to 1,000 chapters and 1,000 notes).

Where is my data stored?

Everything is stored locally in your browser first, so it is fast and works offline. If you are premium and signed in, your data also syncs to a private, per-user cloud database protected by row-level security.

I bought lifetime — how do I use it on a new device?

Sign in with the same account on the new device. Your plan lives on your account, so premium unlocks automatically and your data syncs down. Lifetime never expires.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to your Account page and click Manage subscription — that opens the billing portal where you can cancel. You keep premium until the end of the period you already paid for.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes. On the Account page, Delete account permanently removes your account and all synced data from the cloud. Anything stored only locally stays on your device until you remove the extension.

What happens if I stop paying?

When a subscription ends, your account reverts to free. Your data is not deleted — you just lose cloud sync and the higher limits until you resubscribe.
