YTBooks (“we”, “us”) provides a browser extension and website that let you add chapters and notes to YouTube videos. This policy explains what we collect and why. Contact: support@yt-books.com.
1. Local-first by default
The extension stores your chapters, sections, notes, and folders locally in your browser. If you never create an account, this data stays on your device and we don’t receive it.
2. What we collect
- Account data — if you sign in: your email address and authentication identifiers (via Supabase; Google data if you use Google sign-in).
- Synced content (premium) — when cloud sync is on, your chapters, sections, notes, and folders are stored in our database, tied to your account and protected so only you can access them.
- Billing — payments are processed by Polar; we don’t see or store card details. We store your plan, subscription status/period, and a Polar customer identifier.
- Usage analytics — anonymous, aggregate product events (e.g. “a chapter was created”) via PostHog. We do not send your video titles, chapter names, or note content. You can opt out in the extension.
- Email — if you have an account, we may send service and product emails via Loops. You can unsubscribe at any time.
3. How we use it
To provide the service (sync, backup, premium features), process payments, improve the product, and communicate with you. We don’t sell your data.
4. Processors we use
Supabase (auth + database), Polar (payments), PostHog (analytics), Loops (email), Google (optional sign-in). Each processes data only to provide their service.
5. Retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the Account page, which permanently removes your account and synced data from our database. Data stored only locally remains on your device until you remove it or uninstall the extension.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Contact us at the email above to exercise them.
7. Cookies & local storage
We use local/session storage to keep you signed in and to store your preferences. We don’t use third-party advertising cookies.
8. Children
The service isn’t directed to children under [13/16].
