Cookie Policy

This policy explains how YTBooks (the “Service”), provided by SideQuestWeekend Projects LLP (“we”, “us”), uses cookies and similar local-storage technology on yt-books.com and in the browser extension. It supplements our Privacy Policy.

1. What we use

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t sell data to ad networks. What we do use:

• Essential session storage — Supabase sets an authentication token (via local storage, not a third-party cookie) so you stay signed in between visits. Without it, you’d have to sign in on every page.
• Local app storage — the extension and the notes workspace use your browser’s local storage to keep chapters, notes, and folders on your device, and to remember preferences like theme.
• Billing — when you open the checkout or billing portal, Polar may set its own cookies on its domain to process payment. We don’t control those; see Polar’s own policy.
• Analytics — PostHog uses a first-party identifier to count anonymous, aggregate product events (e.g. “a chapter was created”). It never receives your video titles, chapter names, or note content, and you can opt out in the extension’s settings.

2. Why no cookie banner

We don’t show a cookie consent banner because we don’t use non-essential cookies that require opt-in consent under most regimes (e.g. no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies). The technologies above are either strictly necessary to run the Service or are anonymous analytics.

3. Managing storage

You can clear cookies and local storage for yt-books.com at any time from your browser settings — this will sign you out and, for locally-stored extension data, remove chapters/notes that haven’t been synced or backed up. Use Account → Delete account to remove server-side data permanently.

4. Changes

We’ll update this page if the cookies or local storage we use change, and revise the date above.
